It is important to have policies and procedures in place to ensure that employees have guidance on protocols for the business and to help provide consistency amongst the organisations.
It can be difficult to have time to write policies that are consistent, clear, and legally compliant. Well written policies, provide an easy-to-follow guide for employees and managers and are regularly reviewed and updated from a compliance perspective. You will usually have a range of policies from operational and industry/organisation specific policies to Health and Safety and IT policies which would be beneficial to be checked by an expert to a raft of HR policies which need to be compliant with employment law.
You do not want to find yourself in a situation with an employee whereby the procedure is not clearly written out in a policy for the manager to follow and subsequently you would then have to write a policy for the scenario.
