Karen Barnes, Chartered FCIPD, Director
Karen is a senior HR consultant with over 20 years’ HR experience working across different disciplines, client bases, single and multi-site locations providing the full range of generalist HR support to staff and managers from recruitment through to induction, performance management, career progression and trade union negotiation. Karen’s specialism is recruitment & selection, but she also has significant change management experience covering business start up, mergers and acquisitions, organisation redesign, rebranding and cultural change programmes. Although primarily working in the private sector, Karen has also developed wide public sector experience. An HR strategist with a track record of delivering integrated HR solutions in line with business objectives, Karen is an NLP practitioner with well-developed facilitation and personal coaching skills gained from working in a dynamic commercial environment. She is also Level A and B qualified in psychometric testing, a qualified MBTI practitioner and a qualified workplace mediator.
Stella Day, BA (Hons), Chartered FCIPD, Director
Stella is an experienced senior HR professional and project manager who focuses on the delivery of real outcomes in the people arena. She has recently diversified away from her private sector foundations to work primarily with local authority clients. With almost 20 years’ experience across the full range of HR activities, she has managed major change programmes covering business start-ups, BPR, integration projects, disposals and merger & acquisitions. She has also contributed to HR strategy and plans on a pan European basis in a dynamic trading environment. Stella has extensive expertise in equality issues including equal pay audits, diversity policies, equality action planning and training. She works closely with organizations to help them understand their issues, identify solutions and plan practical outcomes – from policy design and implementation through to large-scale business transformation. She has excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation, coaching and counselling backed by a Certificate in Counselling Skills and is a qualified MBTI practitioner. Stella is also a tutor at Suffolk New College on the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice Course and is a school governor at two local schools. Brian England, Chartered FCIPD
Brian is a senior HR consultant with many years’ HR management experience, which sprang from a career start in general business and accountancy. Brian is a realist and accomplished communicator who brings a practical operational perspective to everything he does. An operational HR specialist, Brian has managed large groups of HR staff to provide business partnership with line managers delivering against the full range of HR activity from recruiting new staff to dealing with difficult people issues. A completer finisher by nature, Brian has developed and implemented HR strategy and HR measurement tools, as well as performance management solutions. Brian, who keeps himself at the forefront of HR thinking as Vice Chair of the Essex and Ipswich CIPD Branch. has recently delivered a number of HR projects and carried out investigations for clients in both the public and private sectors. Brian provides day to day HR support to a number of clients in all aspects of HR management. Lynn Rozier Chartered MCIPD, Director
With 24 years experience, Lynn is a Senior HR Generalist who has worked in a number of sectors including Pharmaceutical, Energy Services, Engineering and Facilities Management. She has successfully managed a number of HR Teams through numerous employee relations initiatives, including company restructures, change management programmes and TUPE transfers. She also headed up consultations with unions and staff associations during these initiatives. Her TUPE experience has included successful transfers of staff from the NHS and local Government into the private sector. She recently won a Company award for her management style, putting her in the top 2% of managers across the organisation she worked for. She has a pragmatic yet commercial approach to her work and prides herself on the excellent relationships she builds with her management teams.
Sarah has 15 years generalist HR and training experience in both the private and public sectors, where she has worked on large scale organisational change projects, bespoke management learning and development interventions and innovative resourcing solutions and recruitment campaigns. Sarah has a breadth of experience on employee relation matters and has provided day to day advice and coaching to managers on a range of HR issues and developed business partnership working with senior managers and Trade Unions. An associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Sarah also holds a Masters In Occupational and Organisational Psychology and is a fully qualified Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Practioner, with experience in team development and management coaching.
Ferial Rolfe, MSc GIFireE, Consultant
Ferial has a long track record of successfully managing teams to deliver high quality outcomes in the public sector, notably in an emergency services environment. [Ferial was a uniformed member of Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service for 28 years in a number of roles which provided her with a diverse and unique range of skills and experiences. She was the most senior operational female in the East of England and one of a very small number of people nationally to make the move across to a command role at a senior level.] She has extensive experience of all aspects of personnel management, performance management and improvement, and of national, regional, corporate and partnership working. Ferial has extensive experience of recruitment, assessment and selection of uniformed and non uniformed personnel for a wide range of roles. She has been sought out as a mentor and to provide advice and support to other managers, and was a visiting lecturer at the Fire Service College focussing on motivation and self development for new managers. Ferial has been investigating and reporting on cases of harassment and bullying, grievance and discipline, health and safety issues and causes of fire for many years. She is a trained mediator, is qualified in Prince2 methodology and holds the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Ferial has an MSc in Public Services Management which enabled her to research group theory and organisational culture, particularly in an open plan office environment. She has experience of the impact of industrial action, major organisational change including TUPE and redundancy from both a managerial and representative body position. As well as working as a consultant, Ferial is a governor at a local school.
Jackie Clifford, BSc (Hons), FITOL, Consultant
Jackie has been working in the field of learning and development since 1990, prior to which she also worked in recruitment consultancy and generalist HR. With experience in the private, public and voluntary sectors, Jackie is in an excellent position to work with clients to develop learning and development solutions that are specifically tailored to meet their needs. She has always taken a consultative and facilitative approach to her work which has enabled her to produce results that meet identified requirements in a business-focused way. Jackie is as comfortable working on strategic development as she is when she is developing training materials and programmes. She particularly enjoys helping trainers to develop and, as well as designing and delivering many successful training programmes, she is the co-author of 3 books, all published by Kogan Page; "The Coaching Handbook" has been translated into Polish, Russian and Japanese. In 2007/8 she worked with a high profile Non-Departmental Public Body to develop a bespoke qualification for a group of their staff in addition to supporting a range of other ongoing learning and development projects. Jackie is a qualified assessor (D32/33), holds a PGCE, has the BPS Level A qualification and is accredited to use the 16PF psychological profiling tool; she is a Fellow of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning. As well as working as a consultant, Jackie is a volunteer Ambassador for Girlguiding UK and is chair of a working group developing a Learning and Development strategy for the organisation's adult volunteers (of which there are over 65,000); she is also a member of the local CIPD committee and a part-time tutor on the Suffolk New College Certificate in Personnel Practice course.
Nigel French LLM. Chartered FILEX
Nigel is a highly experienced employment lawyer, having worked as a legal practitioner and academic for over 20 years. He advises a range of public and private clients, including solicitors, small commercial concerns, to larger employers, including multi national companies and government institutions. Nigel offers representation in the form of general and specific advice on all employment related areas, including front line advocacy in the courts. This extends, for example, to work on complex international TUPE transactions, the conduct of major workplace investigations and complex severance negotiations. Developing on his experience as a lecturer on degree, postgraduate and masters level course (currently at Anglia Ruskin University) Nigel has developed expertise in the delivery of short courses in industry, providing bespoke programmes to meet the requirements of particular business. He also writes published articles in periodic journals, and has been described as an employment law 'Guru' in the academic section of The Independent newspaper.
Liz Cook, MCIPD, HR Consultant
With over 22 years’ HR experience, Liz is a highly competent, credible and skilled HR professional. She combines strategic-level HR expertise with a pragmatic, tenacious approach. Liz is an ILM-qualified coach with proven ability to motivate and influence, quickly building rapport and trusted, effective relationships. Her career in public sector, including local government and the Police, has given her extensive experience of varied change management projects, including: restructures and redundancies; TUPE transfers in and out (including successful transfers of staff from local government to the private sector); culture change and organisational development. Liz also has a strong background in employee relations, including close working with trade unions. Liz enjoys managing teams and has worked at a senior level, most recently as Head of HR with Suffolk & Norfolk Constabularies. She enjoys coaching and mentoring, particularly new managers and HR colleagues, and has many years’ experience as a successful HR Business Partner and CMI-qualified Project manager. Liz began her consultancy in 2019 and has since worked in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors completing investigations, policy review, and interim HR manager assignments.
