POLICIES

HR Policies

What state are your HR policies in? Are you confident that they are up to date? Are they accessible to your staff and managers? What do they say about you as an organisation?

Many people are influenced by what kind of employer they are joining. This is about more than terms and conditions. Increasingly individuals know their rights and so they are looking for employers who can offer that bit more.

We can help you put policies in place that help you stay within the law and help you attract and retain employees by sending positive messages about what you do.

Blue Star Human Resources can work with you to:

  • review and publish your policies to reflect your organisation’s culture, the market you operate in and, of course, comply with the law.
  • consider a wide range of media for sharing policy information including intranet based solutions and how policies can be incorporated into your employee handbook.
  • review and capture your approaches to work-life balance through flexible working policies; overtime working; time off in lieu; family related policies including maternity, paternity, adoption, childcare and parental leave; health related policies including stress and absence management (including management of industrial injuries) and policies on your working environment such as dress codes, break times, facilities etc.
  • review and capture your approaches to behaviour at work through policies on harassment and bullying; alcohol and drugs; grievances; disciplinaries; poor performance etc.
  • review and capture your approaches to employee benefits such as insurance, cars, travel, pensions and share schemes.
  • ensure you comply with Minimum Wage Regulations 1999 (as amended).
  • ensure equal opportunity and diversity issues are covered, including provisions relating to age discrimination.
  • manage business risks by implementing policies that clearly specify ‘how we do things round here’ including Health and Safety, Business Ethics, Competition, Expenses, Internet and Email use and Sickness Absence.
