Blue Star Human Resources - INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
You may or may not currently recognise Trades Unions. The working environment has changed and so has the law that sits around it. Did you know that even without Trades Unions there are still certain things you are required to consult on? How do you go about putting proper frameworks in place for discussion? What if your employees decide they want to join a union?
Blue Star Human Resources can work with you to:
- establish the statutory requirement to consult regardless of the size and status of your business.
- review or set up frameworks and committees that meet the needs of your business and help you to manage issues effectively. This could include putting in place processes to communicate information to employees, elect employee representatives, and record minutes etc.
- help recognise or derecognise a union taking into account the legal framework and processes that need to be followed.
- conduct research that will support negotiations with Trade Unions and prepare relevant briefing documents.
- provide training in negotiation and consultation skills.
- put in place consultation frameworks that can be used as part of your approach to employee communications and will enable you to properly manage situations including organisational change, redundancies, takeovers and mergers.
- set up European Works Councils if appropriate or review existing arrangements. Know what they involve, whether you need one and how to work with the Council.
- ensure you are aware of the legislation relating to union and employee representatives and manage time off and other issues accordingly
- establish or review your collective bargaining framework taking into account market factors, your business plan and other issues. This may include harmonisation of terms and conditions, changes to working practices, or updating collective agreements to reflect changes in the law.
